My journey with yoga began in 2005 in New York City, coincidentally at a studio named “Balanced Yoga”. It was my first in-studio yoga class other than the Seane Corn videos I practiced with at home. Soon after, I started taking beginner yoga classes with Chrissy Carter at Yogaworks and fondly remember her smile, sweet passion and patience as she gently taught me the basics. Over the years yoga came in and out of my life as I swapped it with other forms of exercise: running, kickboxing, spinning. I was drawn to spiritual lectures and teachers that had a way of messaging their wisdom throughout the asana practice and especially during savasana. The quotes, the cherished life stories and ancient textural knowledge, the pouring of their inner feelings out into the open space perhaps making them vulnerable, had many times over, given me peace and freedom in my own mind and heart.
I am so thankful to have received my 200hr. RYT this year and hope to share with others the beauty of yoga!

In 2011 I began studying Ayurveda and now am in my 2nd year to become an Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner. Ayurveda is the Indian life-science of holistic medicine which emphasizes a specialized routine, diet and exercise program for each person based on the presence and percentage of the 5 elements (space, wind, fire, water, earth – akasha, vayu, tejas, aap, prithvi) in their body. To determine one’s dosha(s) or operating energy (vata, pitta, kapha) one can take an Ayurvedic body constitution analysis in the form of questions which assesses physical and mental qualities.
As all of the 5 elements (space, wind, fire, water, earth) are found in nature and also within our bodies, there is a tendency for our bodies to be affected by changes in weather, location and of course diet and lifestyle. Attention is placed on leading a balanced life through nourishment of proper foods and a regularly scheduled meals and activities and exercise. Surrounding oneself with positivity and cultivating values of love, truth, kindness, gratitude and being in service to others in some way brings an energetic value to our lives.
